Senator Kerrey is a former governor and U.S. senator from Nebraska. He has served as managing director at Allen & Company, an investment banking firm, since January 2014. He also has served as executive chairman of The Minerva Institute for Research and Scholarship, a non-profit institute that aims to offer exceptional educational experiences to students and advance faculty research, since January 2013.

Between January 2011 and February 2013 Senator Kerrey was president emeritus of The New School University in New York City, and from 2001 to 2010, he served as president of The New School University. From July 2011 to March 2012, he served as the chairman of M & F Worldwide Education Holdings, a provider of business and home office, technology, data management and education products and services. From January 1989 to December 2000, he served as a U.S. senator from the State of Nebraska. Before his election to the U.S. Senate, Senator Kerrey was governor of the State of Nebraska from January 1982 to December 1987.

Prior to entering public service, he founded and operated a chain of restaurants and health clubs. A former member of the elite Navy SEAL Team, Senator Kerrey is a highly decorated Vietnam veteran who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor – America’s highest military honor. 

Senator Kerrey holds a degree in pharmacy from the University of Nebraska. He formerly served as a director of Genworth Financial, Inc., Jones Apparel Group, Inc. and Scientific Games Corporation.
