Saum Sutaria, M.D., is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tenet Healthcare.
He joined Tenet in 2019 after working for nearly two decades at McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, Dr. Sutaria was a leader in the healthcare and private equity practices, advising clients on strategic, operational and financial matters. Dr. Sutaria previously held an associate clinical faculty appointment at the University of California at San Francisco, where he also engaged in postgraduate training with an interest in internal medicine and cardiology.
He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego where he was a Howard Hughes Scholar. He also received dual bachelor’s degrees in molecular and cellular biology and economics, both from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Sutaria also serves on the boards of USA Water Polo, Inc and Veterinary Emergency Group.
