Theresa Horne, Chief Nursing Officer

Theresa Horne serves as chief nursing officer, where she is responsible for Tenet’s professional nursing practice and plays a critical role in implementing the company’s related quality, safety and patient experience initiatives.

Horne previously served as senior director of nursing labor and practice for patient care services at Tenet. Prior to joining Tenet, she served as the vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer of St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, where she was responsible for clinical, operational and financial leadership for nursing and clinical inpatient services.

Earlier in her career, Horne served for seven years in a variety of administrative roles at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center including associate vice president of clinical operations. She led a throughput transformation of the emergency department, which resulted in a significant reduction in average length of stay.

Horne is a retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, where she served for 21 years on active duty in a variety of clinical and administrative positions. She was deployed to Iraq for 11 months in 2003, where she served as a nurse practitioner with the 28th Combat Support Hospital in Tikrit, Iraq.

Horne received a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland in Baltimore and a Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University. She is board certified as nurse executive advanced, is a fellow of the Advisory Board and is certified in Lean Six Sigma.
